Mink Control Volunteer

Phil has been controlling American mink in Wester Ross for over 12 years – long before the SISI project began! He is committed to controlling populations of this invasive predator on the island where he lives to help protect local bird populations.

"I started trapping mink due to the loss of ground nesting birds. We first noticed lapwings disappearing – they were suddenly gone from the island. I’m very fond of lapwings, they were my gran’s favourite birds, so I wanted to do something to help them and the only way to do that was to trap the mink.”
