Good news!  The Scottish Invasive Species Initiative (SISI) has been shortlisted in the 2020 CIEEM Awards which celebrate the success of projects, businesses and individuals who have made a significant contribution to protecting the natural environment across the UK and Ireland.

We are one of three finalists in the “Best Practice: Large-scale Nature Conservation” category for our work with partners and community volunteers to remove invasive non-native species over a huge area of Scotland.  The category recognises projects that enhance biodiversity, ecosystem functioning and sustainable development. The awards ceremony in London, where the winners will be announced, is due to take place in October - COVID-19 restrictions allowing.

Callum Sinclair, Project Manager, Scottish Invasive Species Initiative, commented; “We were delighted to receive the news that we have been shortlisted for this prestigious award.  It is an honour for us to be a finalist and have the excellent work of our project, our partners and our fantastic volunteers to conserve the natural environment for us all to enjoy and value recognised in this way. We will have to wait a little longer to find out who the winner is but hopefully it will be worth the wait - we have our fingers crossed!”

The Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) who run the award scheme aim to promote high standards of practice for the benefit of nature and society.
